After filling the lamp, insert a cotton wick and ignite it to illuminate the room. The lamps are used at festivals, but you can also use them as decorations in your house, such as in the living room or bedroom, or lay them on a dinner table instead of candles.

A diya, also known as a Deepak or a lamp, is a traditional oil lamp used in Hindu religious rituals and ceremonies in India and Nepal. A diya is typically made of metal, such as brass, and is filled with oil and a cotton wick. The wick is lit, and the flame is used to make offerings and perform puja (worship).

CARE TIPS

  • Prepare a solution by mixing equal parts of lemon juice and water. Dip a soft cloth into the solution and wring it out until it's slightly damp. Gently wipe the surface of the Diya to remove any tarnish or stains. Lemon's natural acidity helps to dissolve grime without damaging the brass.
  • After wiping with the lemon juice solution, rinse the Diya with clean water to remove any residue. Make sure to dry it thoroughly using a clean, dry cloth.
  • Start by gently dusting the Diya using a soft, dry cloth to remove any loose dirt or debris. This step prevents scratching during the cleaning process.
  • If you prefer a shinier finish, you can apply a small amount of brass polish to a soft cloth and gently buff the Diya in circular motions. Wipe off any excess polish to avoid buildup.
  • This simple cleaning process, you can ensure that your Brass Diya maintains its radiant shine for years to come. Regular cleaning not only preserves its beauty but also enhances its spiritual significance.
